Krista Ferret

Dr. Christine took the time to listen to my frustrations about feeling tired and hungry all the time, creeping weight gain, and brain fog, and worked with me to make positive changes by not only giving me a path forward, but also by helping to educate me as to the “how” and “why” behind the actions taken. I feel the best I’ve felt in a long time and grateful for Dr. Christine’s guidance in this journey back to better health.

Lisa McNamara

I love working with Dr Christine. She is so knowledgeable, and I feel in control of my weight, eating and weight loss goals for the first time ever. I think I tried everything else and failed. Loving the new regimen. I feel great.

Dr. Najjar is a progressive, knowledgeable & compassionate doctor who will help you get healthy & lose weight as you learn how food can work to heal you & make you healthier. She has an individualized approach, challenging you to do your best, while being very supportive. My sugar, blood pressure & cholesterol numbers were through the roof, I was considered obese, and my PC Dr said if things didn’t change I’d have to be on meds for all these issues, but with Dr Najjar’s help I lost 75 lbs & my numbers are now excellent, no need for meds, and I feel great.

Common Questions About Our Metabolic Medicine Practice

We understand that you’ll have questions as you consider this next step on your health journey. Here are the answers to some common questions about our metabolic approach.

Metabolic medicine focuses on improving your overall health by addressing the root causes of metabolic issues such as hormone imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and food sensitivities. Learn more here.

An InBody scale is a body composition analysis tool that provides a detailed report on your body’s fat, muscle, and water content. It uses bioelectrical impedance analysis to send mild electrical currents through your body to measure your weight and body composition in about 45 seconds. As part of your office visit you will receive a reading with analysis and a pdf report.

Your nutrition plan will focus on optimizing your diet to improve metabolism. The goal is to use food as medicine, helping you manage your health long-term. Dr. Christine’s ABCs are designed to empower you to take back control of your mind and body. Each letter —A through G — stands for an essential principle for putting good food, and healthy hacks, to work for you.

Imbalances happen for a reason. When a doctor says you have an imbalance or diagnosis, you might assume there’s just something inherently wrong with you. The truth is that there’s a reason for every imbalance in your body’s chemicals, hormones, and microbiome. The art of metabolic medicine utilizes food and lifestyle to adjust your entire body’s internal chemistry, targeting all organs with a single functional intervention. This holistic approach can treat a wide variety of conditions related to metabolism, including diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, heart disease, hypothyroidism, and more.

During your second in-office visit, the nutrition intensive, we will develop a follow-up plan together. We will create a schedule that provides accountability and allows Dr. Christine to monitor your progress and adjust your plan.

Blood work and other testing is ordered during your first visit, based on your symptoms and Dr. Christine’s assessment.

Dr. Christine may order a variety of tests to help develop an informed plan. Some of the common tests include:

  • Ketone Tracking
  • Comprehensive Blood Work
  • Urine Iodine Testing
  • Continuous Glucose Monitoring
  • Sleep Studies
  • SIBO Testing
  • Coronary Artery Calcium Scan
  • Bone Density
  • Thermography
  • Salivary Hormone Testing

We prioritize providing you with the highest level of personalized care, which is why Dr. Christine works as an out-of-network provider. This allows her to offer treatment without the restrictions that come with in-network services, so full payment is required on the day of your appointment.

For those with insurance, our team will review your out-of-network benefits and give you an estimate of what your insurance may reimburse. After your visit, we will submit a superbill and file a claim with your insurance on your behalf. Once processed, your insurance company will send the reimbursement directly to you.

Please note that Dr. Christine has opted out of Medicare, so superbills cannot be submitted for Medicare patients.

Additionally, insurance typically covers lab work and imaging tests ordered by Dr. Christine.

We accept all major credit cards, HSAs/FSA, cash and check. Please note if paying by cash or check we require a credit card to be on file.

Dr. Christine is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Connecticut. To receive medical care from Food First MD, you must establish care in the state via an in-office or Telemedicine appointment.

Yes. Our office accepts most FSA/HSA cards. Check with your individual plan to ensure services are covered.

You do NOT need a referral. In fact, you can often get evaluated and treated much quicker than a traditional PCP since there are no insurance barriers.
